My Edtech1 experience
I can still remember when I first encounter the course title Educational Technology (EdTech) in my registration certificate. At first, I was somewhat nervous because honestly, I am not a techi person. I am not really fond and interested in exploring new gadgets and software that are available in the market. I was actually thinking before if I really belong to the “digital natives” as other people call our generation because I was just contented to use my laptop for making my papers, for researching and for getting in touch with my friends and loved ones. However, after going through EdTech 1, I realized that technology is not just about the expensive gadgets and software that mostly IT people talk about. I realized that my beliefs about EdTech are very limited that it only concern the modern technology. I did not realize that even simple art and craft products could be part of educational technology that culd help in improving the teaching and learning process.
Last semester, I experienced, and I know my friends experienced this too, all the stress that our requirements in EdTech brought to us. There were quizzes every meeting, reporting, and papers that we did just to survived this course but I can say that even if I have gone through difficult times, my EdTech 1 experience was still worthwhile. Because of all the pressure and stress that I have encountered, I can say that I am now more resilient to stress and problems and I know that I am now the better version of myself.
Furthermore, of all the stressful and memorable experiences that I had in EdTech1, my favorite would be my experience in making the Project Based Multi-Media Learning (PBML) requirement. When I first heard PBML, I was really overwhelmed; to think that it was discussed in the last part of the semester and the said requirement was given towards the end. I thought that I am not capable of doing it because it seemed so complicated but I never gave up. I did everything to accomplish the said requirement with all my best and with all the possible effort that I can give. In this website, you can see the product of my hard work for my PBML requirement.
Another memorable experience for me was our individual presentation on the different stages in Dale’s Cone of Experience. I cannot forget that experience because at first, all of us were given the opportunity to choose a topic but then, unfortunately, I was forced to get a topic that was not my choice. The worse thing was, the topic that I got was the first topic to be discussed. Imagine how great that was. During that time, my flexibility as a person was challenged which I think became my advantage because as a teacher being flexible is necessary. Also, that unfortunate situation did not stop me from doing my best. I actually tried to go beyond or just even meet the expectations of our professor.
Though I experienced a lot of difficulties as I went through my EdTech1 journey, I can still say that this course really contributed in my development as a student and a future educator and I hope that this website would also help you in seeing the beauty of technology in education.
